Chrissy Metz Weight Loss 2025: Unbelievable Transformation & Inspiring Journey Revealed!

Chrissy Metz Weight Loss 2025: Chrissy Metz is opening up about her health journey. Metz — who rose to fame on the NBC show This Is Us — told the Daily Mail in April 2025 that she had lost 100 pounds and was consistently weight training “I’ve always loved strength training.

I’ve always loved lifting weights — like, I don’t want to run unless someone’s chasing me,” the actress laughed.

I want to live my life to the fullest, and I want to be strong. And that’s the motivation behind all of this.”

Metz has struggled with her weight since childhood, as she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017.”I’ve been fat my whole life,” she said.

I was born overweight and as I grew up, at different points in my life I may have slimmed down, become more active or taken part in sports, but I’ve always been overweight since childhood.”

The Emmy nominee began prioritizing her health after turning 30 and began obsessing over her weight.

Eventually, she announced her 100-pound loss at an event in May 2025.

I want to have a fit and healthy body and not be in a box. I don’t want to be limited by anything,” she told People in 2017.

Here’s everything Chrissy Metz said about her health journey and weight loss.

Metz Has Struggled With Her Weight Her Whole Life

Metz has struggled with her weight ever since she can remember.

The American Horror Story actress told The Hollywood Reporter that as a child, if she ate the same foods as her classmates, she would totally gain weight.

I had to be very careful about what I ate,” she told the outlet. “I don’t remember being told what not to eat, but I know it was an issue, and there were whispers about it because everyone didn’t want to hurt my feelings.

When she was 11, Metz went to a Weight Watchers program and was “the youngest person” in the room.

In addition to her insecurities, Metz has claimed she suffered physical and emotional abuse from her stepfather, who allegedly criticized her weight.

“My body seemed to offend him, but he couldn’t stop staring, especially when I was eating,” she wrote in her 2018 memoir, This Is Me.

He joked about putting a lock on the refrigerator. We lived with food shortages for so long that when food was available, I felt I had to eat it before it disappeared. Food was my only happiness.

Metz’s stepfather’s alleged actions caused her to “hide food” and eat in the “middle of the night”.” I would sneak food into the bathroom,” she wrote.

Cookies, chips. Things I could eat as quickly as possible to avoid detection.

Her Weight Loss Journey

She was inspired to lose 100 pounds after being hospitalized on her 30th birthday.

Metz began her acting career when she was a size 12 and, as she told People in February 2017, she “always saw the same small group of girls” in the audition room.

Metz then lost 50 pounds at the recommendation of her then-manager.

After struggling to find acting roles, she began working as a junior casting agent, but according to the actress, this worsened her depression.

Metz began “eating my feelings” and gained 100 pounds during this time. On her 30th birthday, Metz was about to go to her party when she began having heart palpitations and had to be hospitalized.

“I was like, ‘What is this? Am I dying? What’s happening?'” she said. “It was scary, really, really scary.”

Doctors told her she was having a panic attack, and warned, “You can’t continue down this path.” The incident led Metz to prioritize her health.

I was so gung ho, I lost 100 lbs. in less than five months,” she said. “All I did was eat a 2,000-calorie diet and walk 20 minutes a day.”

Ups and Downs of Her Weight Loss Journey

In 2014, she landed a role in American Horror Story: Freak Show, in which she played a “fat lady” and wore a fat suit.

She said the role was “intriguing” because she “didn’t want to be” like her character. Five years later, Metz starred in the hit NBC drama, This Is Us.

On the show, Metz played Kate, a woman struggling with body image and weight loss issues.

“You have to use what you have, and if I had lost the weight already, I wouldn’t have gotten the role,” she told People in 2017.

Now this is a story about a woman who is struggling with her weight, just like I did and still do.”

In the series, Kate undergoes gastric bypass surgery to lose weight. Metz told People magazine at the time that she was never forced to lose weight for the role, but said she was inspired to do so.

Why should there be any other inspiration for getting to a healthy weight than me?” he said in December 2016. “Every actor does that. We’re chameleons.

We change; we evolve as an actor… You lose weight, you gain weight, and you change your hair or whatever.

Exercise Routine That Worked for Her

In April 2025, Metz told the Daily Mail that she was enjoying weightlifting.”I’ve always loved strength training.

I’ve always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don’t want to run unless someone’s chasing me,” she told the outlet.

Her workout sessions vary, but Metz has been “consistent” with lifting weights and “trying to lose a little bit of weight every day.

In addition to going to the gym, Metz has also enlisted the help of a personal trainer in Nashville, Tenn.

We have some similarities, like it’s not just ‘Why are you doing this?’ I don’t want to be yelled at. I want to be lovingly supported in what I’m doing,” she said.

Metz said she exercises because she wants to “live my life to the fullest. I’m really doing it because I’m scared of getting older, getting osteoporosis or arthritis, and because now people are learning a lot more about holistic health [and] it’s really about staying strong and resilient,” she said.
