America Ferrera Weight Loss: Latinx actor America Ferrera is the latest celebrity to slim down. The star of “Superstore” and “Ugly Betty” says she lost weight through healthy eating habits and exercise.
Ferrera, 33, credits her amazing physical transformation to working out six days a week with a trainer and sticking to a plant-based diet.
She said goodbye to processed foods and cut out dairy, meat, sugar, gluten…and alcohol! Instead of pizza or tacos, she noshes on veggies, grains, lean protein, and fruit. Lots of water round out her meals.
“There are many times in my life when I’ve had to lose weight for jobs and roles,” said Ferrera, who recently lost even more pounds and has slimmed down from a size 10 (which she describes as her “happy weight”) to a size 6. She definitely looks fantastic!

After shedding the pounds, Ferrera feels better than ever! “I don’t feel like I have to keep up with anyone anymore, I don’t feel like I have to compare myself because it looks like somebody else,” she said. “I feel like I can just be…and that feels really powerful.”
Ferrera is not alone among celebs slimming down via clean eating and regular exercise. Actress/singer Zendaya Coleman is another A-lister who recently told the media she dropped 20 pounds in 2015 by following a vegan diet and working out 4-6 times a week.
Meanwhile, singer Ariana Grande said she dropped 10 pounds through healthy eating habits and regular exercise in early 2015. She cut out fast food, chips, candy, processed carbs, and sugar from her meals, filling up instead on fruits and veggies.
The petite pop star said she’s sticking to a healthy, clean diet and an intense workout routine. That means cardio exercise six days per week, alternating between yoga one day and spin class another day.

“Those were the two foods I would eat,” Ferrera said. “They never left my side.” She eventually started to feel unhealthy. “I couldn’t sleep, I had headaches all the time,” she said.
She says she took steps to change her diet when she moved in with friends who wanted to make better choices about food.
“My roommates were like, ‘You keep eating that and we won’t be friends anymore.'” Ferrera recalled. After cutting out processed foods and dairy, she started to feel better.
“I slept like a baby,” she said. “Then I knew it was my lifestyle.” As for exercising six days per week, Ferrara says it’s all about staying active.
“The more activity the better,” she said. “Walking is also good too.

Last night, I was watching Superstore on the NBC channel and there was a scene where Amy (America Ferrera) is talking about how she has to wear Spanx because of her weight. I was sitting there thinking “how can that be? America’s so gorgeous.”
